  Yeah this is completely devoid of ideas. It’s provocative for the sake of being provocative with no real internal logic whatsoever.

  Fennell is incredibly gifted technically and once again that’s on display here. The actors seem to be having a great time chewing scenery (and other things), but that’s where the praise ends.

  This movie is bad. It does not have anything to say but it’s trying to trick you and itself into thinking it does.

  Very assured and confident directorial debut from Affleck. Extremely well paced and directed first act with some phenomenal performances by Casey Affleck and Amy Ryan in particular. You are thrown into the action right away and the investigation and plot moves quickly and effortlessly from scene to scene. You can tell the actors are having fun playing with each other but it very rarely comes off as cartoonish and mostly feels lived in and earned.
