I dont hate everything it does, but I'd be hard pressed to say it executes any of it's interesting ideas competently. Outside of the writing, there isn't anything truly irredeemable, as even Pinhead's underutilization feels somewhat appropriate. But with the writing as bad as it is, and everything else being a bit of a wash, it's easy to put this at the bottom of the list.
Definitely better than anything I would expect this far into the series. It has all of the same general story of Inferno, with a gaslit male protagonist being forced to reconcile with his own guilt and sins. But fortunately, Dennis Duffy proves to a far more engaging protagonist than discount Tim Robbins. And while it still suffers from the overuse of the dreamscare fake-outs, it does a lot of great stuff with it.
