i kind of hate the notion of movies being “perfect for the times” considering the fact that this was shot over 2 years ago and the story wasn’t influenced at all by the pandemic (and the general world clusterfuck we’re in) but god, having a high concept action movie that’s also about how important being kind and loving one another really hits home these days. the Daniels and A24 couldn’t have gotten luckier with the timing for this release. and even beyond that, the script, direction, performances, just all of it is pitch perfect and I couldn’t ask for something more enthralling and inspiring during a time that’s so hard for everyone. and to be selfish for a second, during a time so formative for me as a film lover and film maker.
