    The Ascent

an unforgiving odyssey into the conscience. a brutal tale of absolute perseverance in the face of evil, it’s subsequent perversion, and eventually it’s harrowing consequence.

war as a desolate, snowy hellscape inhabited by glassy-eyed victims of humanity’s tendency to gravitate towards malignancy.

    Three Colours: Blue

the anatomy of grief; multifaceted, confounding and cruel. try as you might to destroy the past, it’s as much a part of you as the present, and nothing can ever change that.

watched in stunning 4k on the big screen and i’m pretty sure i started levitating at one point.

lacking the superlatives to express the pleasure it was seeing this on 35mm in a sold out screening in the heart of london. here’s me thinking i knew this film inside out, only to discover even more about it, and more about myself, this time round. the ‘never cursed’ scene delivered by day-lewis may just be my favourite from any film.

reminder that david o russel is an admitted abuser and all round despicable man. i never advocate for piracy but if you really wanna see it…
    boycott this film.
