Before Midnight

Before Midnight ★★★★½

I'm confident in saying that I have never been so blown away by a trilogy in my life. I think it proves you don't need a crazy big cast, over the top CGI and Roger Deakins type cinematography to make an impactful experience. It is easily some of the best writing ever put to screen. Those long dialogue-heavy scenes where they are having deep conversations while walking to an unknown destination pull you into a feeling of reality yet still feeling like it's a dream. After watching Before Sunrise, I had this sinking feeling that I hadn't felt since I first watched Lost In Translation. It was a feeling that made me think "what did I just watch?" It took me so long to process it. I was annoyed at myself for taking so long to watch it. It was perfect. I was not expecting the trilogy to hold up. It did.

Like I said before, I haven't really experienced a set of films like this. The trilogy is included in only some of the films that I've watched and thought it was real. The connection between Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy is truly unmatched. I don't really know what else to say. I am well and truly astounded by these three films and It deserves the title that almost everyone gives it, "The Greatest Trilogy of All Time".
