I love the Universal Classic Monsters, and I also love Marvel. You combine those two properties that I love together, and then you get Werewolf by Night. When I heard it was coming out on Disney +, I had no idea where my thoughts would land, despite everything going on with the MCU as of late. Would it be something we all need right now, or would it be a continuing downward spiral of mediocrity that will never pick up, thanks to this woke shit that needs to stop?
Well, I'm so happy to report that this is not only one of the best entries since Infinity War, but this has to be one of the most exciting and fresh things I've ever seen in any MCU entry. This was such a breath of fresh air that we all needed it at this point. Werewolf by Night features brilliant directing by famous composer, Michael Giacchino; gorgeous black and white cinematography; great practical effects on Jack Russell's beast within and Man Thing; Laura Donnelly being a surprise addition as Elsa Bloodstone; and great performances across the board. This was also surprisingly gory, considering that Disney/Marvel had the balls to show off their dark side here. Overall, this was a triumphant first effort for Marvel to not only dive into more genre territory for the superhero studio, but also to give the audience more hope that the MCU will take future phases to new exhilarating heights.
Thank you Disney and Marvel for gifting us with a tasty MCU Halloween treat!
