Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird is a hilarious, briskly edited and wonderfully acted portrayal of teen angst and rivalry done with a true sense of humanity that practically feels infectious. It’s a film about choice, freedom and going against everything to make your way, and the writing and directing on display is something thoroughly entertaining to experience. It’s got a great tone, characters that, while comical and fun, feel real and developed, and Saoirse Ronan lights up the screen with a charismatic and absolutely terrific performance.
