second viewing this thing is just, fun. what's more abundantly clear is how reflexive almost every scene is to itself -- all the constant nods, the loose exposition. protagonist, antagonist, people assembling for a fight that's already happened without knowing what they're fighting for. the first real video game movie, if only because it understands that deep thematic dissonance and embraces it towards narrative oblivion. wild.
