Watched with my roommate who’s never seen it... what a great film
There's so much I could say about this but I'll keep it short. This is one of the most fascinating character studies we have ever seen in a movie. Greed, Selfishness, Ego, Hunger for Power, Religion, Capitalism, and Self-Destruction are all great words to use to describe this film. I can't remember if I said this after my first review, but Daniel-Day Lewis's performance here is the best I have ever seen. Period. His mannerisms, facial expressions, and dialogue delivery…
Wow. Everything about this is beautiful. I was confused for some of it but at the same time could follow everything that was going on. Carrey and Winslet are perfect together even if everything starts unraveling as the films goes on. We get so much depth from them it is truly amazing. The supporting cast does their thing and Mark Ruffalo is hilarious. The range of emotions I felt was just too much. The screenplay is definitely one of the best I've seen and the editing that puts it all together... I have no words except, perfect.
