  While it’s is a step-down in ambition from Shin Godzilla, and not as singular as Edwards’ 2014 American reboot, this is an incredibly well-done modern blockbuster rendition of an early Showa Godzilla flick. My huge lizard pal is in fine form lately, and that makes me very very happy indeed.

  Also, midway through the film I went to use the bathroom and learned that Henry Kissinger had died 🥳

  The secret to enjoying this movie - and I admit to finding it pretty winning - is assuming that the financial mismanagement which threatens to send Paul Rudd's character to jail involves producing a modern day romantic comedy set in 3 apartments, a restaurant, and an office to the tune of 120 million dollars.

  Remember how offended we were in 2010 at the sheer laziness of Adam Sandler making a movie with zero conflict where he just hangs out with his funny friends and they all bask in positive vibes? Amazing how watchable this is in 2020.
