The only way I like this is if that opening transition was not just a reference to The Shining and actually means something -- like what you see is someone going really nutty with their pet project building little houses. Exhibit A - the final shot in the film. Exhibit B - the text massage. Exhibit C - the fly on the window.
Not saying I did not like it without my crack-pot film theory. I enjoyed it for the most part. Not worthy of its title as this generations Exorcist. Very Kubrickian. Psycho-horror as mental health problems play as context.
