Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me ★★★★★

I suspect that a primary reason people did not like this movie when it came out was because the tv show left Laura Palmer’s final days filled with implications and mystery. Everyone seems to love the intrigue of things being “left to the imagination.” I’ve never subscribed to that in the least, and so what turned people off of this turned me way on. Lynch, here, is aggressively declaring that the end of Laura’s life is much, much worse than you ever would have imagined. It’s frightening, intense, and disturbing in a way the tv show could only hint at, and it’s so fucking good.

Also, I could’ve watched an entire, separate feature film with Chris Isaak and Kiefer Sutherland investigating the murder of Teresa Banks. Kiefer has never been more adorable, and I wanted so much more!
