★★½ Rewatched by Tumbletoppel (BILLIE EILISH ACADEMY AWARD WINNER!!!!!/mourning The Owl House) 10 Jul 2022

(Tumble recaps Illumination’s greatest hits #6. Didn’t forgot about this 😉)

“You can’t do that, he’s a beloved celebrity icon”

Illumination’s only hybrid in their history, and you can see why

While the story is interesting, Russell Brand as EB isn’t that bad, Hank Azaria does a terrific voiceover and James Marsden does fine in his first animal careover (trust me this wouldn’t be his last), it’s just bland, forgettable and maybe if it was fully animated it would have…

i support women's rights but i also support women's wrongs. i love it when they do bad stuff <3

raimi brought the mcu the closest thing to a horror yet and honestly? he didn't do a shabby job - there were moments where lizzie actually terrified me (the tunnel scene was so tense)
however, the writing was shoddy and certain aspects of the plot just made me whisper "what the fuck" under my breath; overall though, my milf wanda could do no wrong and anything with her makes me happy

    ★★★½ Watched by 🍿 popcorn murderer 🔪 26 May 2022

In Time attempts to show a harrowing, dismal dystopian society, but wraps up before confronting its larger issues. a nice watch, but hardly a groundbreaking nor life-changing flick.

this review will largely be comparing In Time and Gattaca, so skip to the next section if you haven’t seen Gattaca yet.

    [spoilers]
I found many elements reminiscent of Niccol’s better-known work, Gattaca. the imposing, faceless buildings, the focus on wealth and inequality and the scene where Will and Sylvia go for…

Immaculate movie. The scale and feel of everything is this film feels so heavy and grand. The score, especially Hymn to the Sea which is legitimately one of the most emotionally stirring songs I’ve ever heard, is somehow iconic and also under appreciated at this point. It really captures the power and beauty of this story. The chemistry between Kate and Leo is superb and their onscreen sweetness and innocence is only made all the more wholesome when you learn…
