The spider looked great! Done with mostly practical effects. Every scene with the spider attacking was well done. The bites, the egg laying, the skin shedding, the creeping around under the beds, etc where done nicely.
The family drama made we root for the characters but it was overdone. It felt very lifetime like. Alcoholism, loss of loved ones, starting over, and addiction to prescription drugs all felt out of place in a movie about a giant spider.
Still a nice creature feature from 2019 with quality practical spider effects.

The practical effects reminded me of the cool Ticks movie from the early 90s.
