Zay’s review published on Letterboxd:
Robert Eggers has established a distinct style in his films so far that is raw, artsy, atmospheric, and visceral. The story is a simple one centered around a young man seeking revenge against the man he saw behead his father when he was young. The gritty aesthetic, the cinematography, the
top notch acting, the viking lore, the sound design, the moments of brutality, and the costume designs were all outstanding. That Gates of Hell battle sequence was so damn dope! Wish it went a wee bit longer though.
The Northman is Eggers best film so far imho. I really liked The Lighthouse and I don't like The VVitch(watched it 5 times and its just to slow and lifeless).
