If I had known about the concept of this movie before watching it I would’ve told you that Yorgos Lanthimos can make wonders with an idea like that (it would be a completely different movie though), but damn Jim Halpert you did it!!!
I watched this knowing nothing other than it was a John Krasinski thriller starring him and Emily Blunt. I always like to watch movies with the least amount of prior knowledge about them, and A Quiet Place is probably one of those movies that makes not knowing anything a better experience.
These small horror movies from the last few years have been phenomenal (10 Cloverfield Lane, Get Out, It Comes at Night and The Witch come to mind) and I’m glad I can add this one to the list of the ones I loved. A Quiet Place is a well written movie. It’s an original idea that doesn’t dumb everything down and try to explain everything, you just understand everything by watching it. But most of all, this movie is suspenseful. It’s exactly what you’d want from a thriller. Emily Blunt is fantastic and so were the kid actors, especially the little girl. My favorite movie of the year so far.
Also if you’re watching this at the cinema, please shut the fuck up and stop disturbing everyone else thank you very much :)
