“You have all the time in the world.” 🏆
Best Scene: Final Ascent
I’ve come to the conclusion that No Time To Die was nearly everything I wanted. It balances the fun action sequences with some of the most heartfelt character moments ever given in this franchise. I appreciate that they didn’t try to make a disposable action blockbuster like many of the other Bond films are. This separates from the pack on technical and character levels. Linus Sandgren’s cinematography may be the films greatest strength. It’s absolutely gorgeous especially that shot of the Spectre assassins on the outside of the building. I never thought this was possible but it gives Skyfall a run for its money in this department. Also, Hans Zimmer’s score is so fantastic. I’ve been listening to it on repeat since October. “Final Ascent” is a masterful piece that encapsulates everything the ending stands for. I lose it during that scene and the music only makes the moment better.
Daniel Craig is so amazing here. He phoned it in for Spectre but here he gives it his all. The action is elevated because of him and he makes the cast around him better. When he and Lea Seydoux get the tears going, you got me. He is awesome and I want to see his career continue further. I knew going into this film that I wanted to see all the Bond Characters come together one last time and that’s what I got. I love this core group plus Lashanna Lynch and Ana De Armas. Couldn’t have asked for a better set of characters in this movie.
The main flaw I have with this movie is Rami Malek. I don’t think he is menacing more that he is just weird, underutilized, and muddled in motivation. A different actor should have been the main villain or Christoph Waltz should have been front and center again. Good thing he isn’t in the movie that much. Nevertheless, I adore this movie and it’s gone up on rewatch. Casino Royale, Skyfall, and No Time To Die will work together fantastically and I’ll come back to this a ton. It’s so good on so many levels.
Fool me once, fool me twice.
Are you death or paradise?
Now you’ll never see me cry.
There’s just NO TIME TO DIE.
