Guy’s review published on Letterboxd:
such a wonderfully empathetic movie. Carol's arc is charming and unique and I love that the conflict is not only more developed than most of these movies but so intelligently tied to both its themes and her path as a character. Brie Larson absolutely nailed it and the supporting cast, Samuel L. Jackson especially are so much fun. Talos is so much more interesting than I think anyone expected.
inevitably people will complain about this "looking like a Marvel movie" but I think the directors did a great job of carving powerful and unique images out of whatever choices may or may not have been forced on them.
I also appreciated how when comedy broke through drama it was never the end of that drama and whatever tensions may have been established, the interactions here are all incredibly natural and it extends perfectly to the humour.
