An engaging, amusing and refreshing documentary with emphasis on the right things, told through a unique perspective and a rich set of main ideas.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I'm feeling partial about this movie.. It's very well made and full of fun, amusing, surprising moments as well as deep, philosophical ones, beautifully tied together in a bundle around the wild western theme. With that said, some of the stories felt rather unfinished, some of them even, I dare say, kind of pointless.

I will now elaborate on each of the stories.

    1) The Ballad of Buster Scruggs - A very sweet and lovely introduction to the wild west…

I saw the original version before seeing the remake @ Haifa 34th International Film Festival. I like this version much better. Gyllenhaal plays a relatable character with a clear set of values and passions, and a fair share of disadvantages as well. The progress her character makes is fascinating even when you (supposedly) know how everything is going to end.

I was invited to see this movie for a first date. I don't love superhero movies cuz they're always the same but I went with it anyway. For the first half of the movie I was counting superhero movie clichés in my head but in the end of the film I was already engaged in the story and impressed by the visual effects. Momoa was a great lead actor, perfect for the new "funny" type of hero. It wasn't entirely original but it did the job. And I had a great date!
