Loved this in concept, and a good deal of the execution. I wish the production as a whole felt tighter and the acting was, uh, pretty dramatic - and not in good ways.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

Exhausting in the best of ways. Loved the bit with the dog(s). Minus ½ star for missing Mustang and an unnecessarily long runtime - though your mileage may vary.

Will be discussed on the next episode of the Cinereelists podcast.

Perfect in all the wrong ways.

WHILE ON ISLA NUBLAR it's dumb action b-movie fun with b-movie caricatures opposite a-level effects, culminating in an artful shot of a dinosaur death that gently captures the gravity of the moment amongst the CGI chaos.

AFTER THE ISLAND it devolves into a half-baked haunted house movie that exposes the thinness of the characters in record time, while relentlessly dino-screaming in your face for the remainder of the runtime.

We talked about it in full, on the podcast.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Went up a 1/2 star on rewatch, only complaints are occasionally dodgy CG and a lack of memorable score - a common complaint of mine for these MCU films. If you want a fun, spoiler-filled discussion check out ep #327 of the podcast here where we also played trivia related to the film. That trivia is below, with the answers in the first comment - how well can you do?

    This movie destroyed me.

Need to see this again, it will probably go up on 2nd viewing. It has shades of Heathers, May, and Ghost World for me. I found it uniquely awkwardly creepy. Think of it as what if Wednesday Adams was besties with one of the Mean Girls? Loved it.

The score put it over the top for me. Jóhannsson-esque. Anton Yelchin was good as well in his last screen performance.

2nd viewing, still my favorite film of 2017.

Good but not "best of" material when it comes to other PTA efforts. I needed something more, in the end - literally and figuratively. The performances are great as is the construction and visuals of the film - I just found the whole endeavor a little slight for my tastes. Again, judging against other PTA works, most of which I consider masterpieces. Full review on the podcast here.

Did nothing for me the first time, then tonight I watched it in a theater (thank you moviepass) and found it spellbindingly charming. Also this shot is lyfe
