I guess I’m feeling a way about this movie because I’m in the exact position that Lady Bird is with me leaving high school onto college (it’s sixth form onto uni here in the UK but I felt the need to simplify things for people) and this movie portrays that stage of life well.
The main thing I love about this movie is that it’s clearly written and condensed in such a way that it’s consumable and entertaining as a film but the script reeks of personal experience and transforming those experiences into something witty and quirky as well as feeling real. Feels like it has the grounded nature of a first time director but Greta’s skill as a debut director feels as if it’s been directed by someone who’s been making films for decades. Probably my Best Picture nominee that I’ve seen so far.
