  • Grosse Pointe Blank

    Grosse Pointe Blank 1997

    ★★½ Rewatched by ZacharyDH 13 May 2022

This might be my favorite Dan Akroyd performance. It’s a take as insane as he is in this movie, but I’m here for it!

  • Unbroken

    Unbroken 2014

    ★★★ Watched by ZacharyDH 12 May 2022

I’m just so grateful that it wasn’t a Christian film. Everything else about it is serviceable without being exemplary. But every time they got close to “faith-based film” material, they swerved away and left it to a title card. Maybe it’s everything that has recently been going on in the world, but I was very relieved that the main character’s motivation was overcoming oppression and not blind faith.

  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 2022

    ★★★ Watched by ZacharyDH 07 May 2022

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I feel like Sam had a giant fantasia-esque sequence planned, with multiple musical genres and instruments, and Kevin Fiege was like “No.”

  • Oblivion

    Oblivion 2013

    ★★★ Watched by ZacharyDH 05 May 2022

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Tom Cruise should play the villain in the next MI. He’s the only adversary worth competing with.

  • A Simple Plan

    A Simple Plan 1998

    ★★★★½ Rewatched by ZacharyDH 02 May 2022

    Under-appreciated masterpiece.

  • House of Gucci

    House of Gucci 2021

    ★★½ Watched by ZacharyDH 17 Apr 2022

Jeremy Irons was excellent. The rest of the movie needs more Jared Leto, or at least more performances like his. (Shocking, I know.)
The dramatic through line was poorly paced and rushed/abridged at its conclusion. If you’re gonna have Irons and Pacino, sharing scenes as brothers, and Leto and Driver sharing scenes with them as their sons… and no one has a similar accent, why couldn’t we lean more into camp? Half the cast was bringing it, the other half…

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens 2015

    ★★★★ Rewatched by ZacharyDH 14 Apr 2022

    We had such hope…

  • Triple Frontier

    Triple Frontier 2019

    ★★★★ Watched by ZacharyDH 12 Apr 2022

We need more takes on Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

  • Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Venom: Let There Be Carnage 2021

    ★★★ Watched by ZacharyDH 10 Apr 2022

I wish there was no villain and we just got two hours of Venom and Eddie Brock navigating sit-com sequence plots as they learn to live together.

  • White Squall

    White Squall 1996

    ★★½ Watched by ZacharyDH 07 Apr 2022

I never realized that Scott Wolf is a poor man’s Tom Cruise.

  • Wrath of Man

    Wrath of Man 2021

    ★★ Watched by ZacharyDH 28 Mar 2022

Just awful in terms of Guy Richie, Jason Statham, and Heat knockoffs. This is so much more pretentious than it needed to be.

  • Robin Hood

    Robin Hood 2018

    ★★ Watched by ZacharyDH 27 Mar 2022

I didn’t need the Iraq War version of Robin Hood, but at least it’s something different.
