The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Writing this in the theater, had to get my thoughts down immediately.

Saw it in glorious 4K in IMAX! Not very often does an opportunity to see your favorite movie ever in IMAX come along, and I’m so glad I took it.

When I first saw this film in 2003 at the midnight showing, my friend Peter and I sat in awe of it for hours. We were left stunned and speechless. That same feeling came over me tonight. I…

Okay, I guess welcome to my top 20 all-time movie list, RHPS. Holy fuck. Guess I gotta go to one of the legendary midnight showing’s now. Tim Curry legitimately had one of the greatest performances I’ve ever see.  So damn commanding and incredible.

Can’t believe how good this was. I’ve been missing out on so much for so long. Officially a member of the fandom.

Endlessly quotable and so much rewatch ability. Absolutely hilarious. Needs to become a better known cult classic. Wonderful parody of blaxploitation films.

Why oh why couldn’t this have been twice as long?

    Cinematography: A
    Score: A
    Story: A
    Editing: D-

We needed more depth, more character building.

Overall, I loved this, it was just needed more time setting the table that simply can’t be provided at this length.

I do hate to only talk about the negative in this review, so I’ll add that the 4:3 and B&W really do add a lot to the movie (and this is coming from…
