Zach’s review published on Letterboxd:
In September 2009 I saw Karyn Kusama’s now iconic feminist film Jennifer’s Body. I just turn 13, and it was marketed as “Twilight for boys”. What I saw that night was something that really made me the person I am today. I fell in love with that film, and it was my favorite film of all-time for the longest time. Seeing Megan Fox carry this feminist tale, and provide a dark comedy/horror film about her eating boys. It was something that really changed my mindset as a teenage boy. Fast forward to December 2020, and Emerald Fennell captured that same feeling I had that night with Promising Young Woman. There is so much to unpack with this colorful, powerful and at times an emotional masterpiece. I’m still in shock with what I just saw, and how much it impacted me. I’ll never fully understand what women go through on a daily basis, and this film put a big bright spotlight about those issues in today society. Everyone needs to watch this film as soon as you can. I’m just in amazement by this piece of art.
