God damn what a vibe. The score gives off pure Blade Runner energy, the attitude is all 80s style and excess. The movie just works on a real base energy.
William Peterson was perfect for this movie. Between this and To Live and Die in LA he was the quintessential 80’s cop.
The acting is great. Brian Cox is actually a better Hannibal than Hopkins. The style is perfect, the music is unbelievably good.
The total package isn’t quite as good as Silence of the Lambs, but Manhunter is absolutely deserving to stand side by side and inhabit the same universe.
A 5/5 for personal enjoyment. It’s a perfect mystery thriller.
