Don't regret. Remember.
Céline Sciamma's directing and writing floored me with just about every scene. Adèle Haenel and Noémie Merlant's performances as the two leads are to DIE for. This movie shattered me, and I don't know what else there is to say about it for now. I just know that I 100% loved this and will absolutely watch it again. I'd like to add that it has a loooot of lingering shots that add to the intensity and atmosphere overall. Its not afraid to take its time setting up its characters and establishing their wants and needs, and rewards you with moments of pure human connection that really struck me. Not a single minute of this felt bland or unnecessary, thanks to Adèle and Noémie's encapsulating performances and Céline's stellar direction and screenplay. No spoilers but the last few minutes absolutely destroyed me. The bonfire sequence is mesmerising and so, so beautiful. The raw chemistry between these two actresses makes it impossible to look away or feel bored for a second. A masterpiece from start to finish and fuck yeah absolutely my favourite film of the year.
