A silent film without the heavy-handed hamminess of its time with outstanding visual effects and use of tints to help the narration along, The Phantom Carriage is a haunting Scrooge-like story about a man finding his moral compass and realizing the wrongs he has committed upon his wife and children. The unique score is truly unsettling, and only aids the exemplary visuals.
