Letterboxd — Your life in film

I don't know why I had such high hopes... this sucked! it was not scary and the monsters didn't make sense. like I don't believe that even if they are blind and hunt by hearing alone that they couldn't learn over time where to find humans (in/near buildings) or how to hunt them more effectively... and if their hearing is so sensitive that you can't talk IN YOUR OWN HOME at low volume, how did they not find this family…

I enjoyed this a LOT less the second time. walked out of my first viewing laughing with incredulous delight at his audacity, at the fact that he went there with it; this time, with nothing to surprise me, the things that bothered me on first viewing bothered me even more. namely alma. we see her only through woodcock's eyes, to the point that it feels like a parody: she does, says, feels nothing that is not... him. the fact that…

the # of times I've seen this is approaching self-parody but in my defense I did promise to go with friends while I was home for the holidays! and what the hell, I've had a blast every time. one of the things that makes it so rewatchable: the best blockbuster third act I've seen, like, ever? most climactic battles feel obligatory; the last hour of this is revelatory. nothing will top watching it on opening weekend, tho: the incredulous cheers…
