s/o to the josh o’connor look alike who made me and ava lose our minds seconds into the movie
also s/o to the actual josh o’connor for stealing every scene and making ava freak out the whole movie
As a Jane Austen fan, I enjoyed this. Previous reviews said it was a safe adaptation, and I agree. However, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It was funny, and the aesthetics were very pretty. I do wish they expanded more on some of the background characters like in the previous adaptations, but I understand why they didn’t (so as to keep Emma the main focus). But, I really appreciate them expanding on Harriet and Martin because that’s always one of the biggest things that is missing from the other adaptations.
I do still stand by my statement about the casting being very um interesting. I certainly didn’t picture any of the main characters the way they cast them except for maybe Emma. Just wish they dyed Knightley’s hair or shaved off those ugly side burns.
BUT...Josh was really great in this. He stole EVERY scene in it, and when he wasn’t on screen, I was waiting for him to appear again. And Mia Goth. Wow. I just want to thank the casting director for casting her because she was truly outstanding in her role.
AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT DANCE SCENE!!! W H E W!
