To quote that guy walking out of the screening of ‘Eraserhead’ in 1977:
“My kind of movie”.
If you enjoy the works of David Cronenberg, David Lynch, and even Alejandro Jodorowsky, ignore the bad reviews. This movie is for you.
It’s unconventional, and it’s exactly the type of movie that the cinema landscape (which has become dryer and dryer with each passing year) needs right now.
Well done Ben Wheatley.
A ragtag group of strangers embark on a long journey to Lordsburg, New Mexico in a close quarters stagecoach. With the looming danger that is the Apache raiding party lurking in front of them, one only hopes all can make it in one piece.
John Ford, the godfather of westerns, crafts a well directed, well produced, and well acted classic, with some great exchanges of dialogue, character moments, and an Apache shootout that really blew my mind.
Bravo! What a fine western.
My first Robert Bresson movie. And it won't be the last.
As minimalistic and simplistic as this movie is, that's all you really need. The tension, the suspense, the anticipation, and the drama was so high it literally, and I kid you not, made my stomach turn. That's never happened to me while watching a movie before.
If there was a perfect films list, you'd find this on this on there.
